XChange Recovery is hiring one full-time (1.0 FTE) Van Driver/CPC for day shift (M–F) and one part-time (.5 FTE) for evening shift (M–F).

Position Summary

This unique role combines the transportation duties of a van driver with the supportive engagement of a Certified Peer Counselor. You’ll drive our wheelchair-accessible van, providing safe, timely transportation for program participants. While on the road, you’ll also serve as a peer — offering encouragement, empathy, and positive connection to individuals in recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a van equipped with a wheelchair lift for participant transport.
  
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure basic maintenance needs are reported.
  
• Assist passengers with mobility challenges, including operating the lift and securing wheelchairs.
  
• Build rapport with participants during transport and offer emotional support consistent with peer counseling principles.
  
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  
• Support participants in accessing appointments, housing, and recovery services.
  
• Complete transport logs and follow scheduling procedures.
  
• Communicate with staff about participant needs or concerns.
  

Qualifications

• Certified Peer Counselor (WA State).
  
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  
• Experience operating passenger vans preferred; training available.
  
• Able to lift and assist individuals with mobility needs if necessary.
  
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to model recovery-based behavior.
  
• Reliable, punctual, and organized.
  

Schedule & Wage

• Full-time (1.0 FTE): Day shift, Monday–Friday
  
• Part-time (.5 FTE): Evening shift, Monday–Friday
  
• Wage: DOE
